Liza T. @LizaT131716 22h Landman is hands-down one of my favorite shows right now. The cast alone is stacked—Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Sam Elliott… come on now. Every single one of them brings it. And it was honestly nice seeing Ali Larter again (yes, the Varsity Blues girl)—she fits right in. What really makes this show hit for me, though, is how real it feels. I’m from Texas. I have family with land. I’ve dealt with landmen. I’ve even been wrapped up in a very Landman-ish situation in real life, and I have friends whose husbands work in the oil field. The dynamics, the tension, the power plays—it’s all portrayed incredibly well and feels authentic, not Hollywood-polished nonsense. It’s gritty, well-acted, and grounded in reality, which makes it easy to connect to and hard to stop watching. Five stars, no hesitation. Big things are fixing to happen. See more Egg On F @EggonFace 1d My wife and I liked Season One. Season Two is pretty terrible, though. Nothing happens. The main plot line is they are trying to find some money that was shuttled somewhere? It's not clear. Instead we get treated to the longstanding southern trope of a trophy wife (and her hot airhead daughter) running around all entitled buying things and acting crazy while the long suffering stoic Dad who shrugs his shoulders and just puts up with it. Weird romance with the lawyer (why?). Endless heart to hearts with the Dad and son, and then the son and his manipulative girlfriend. It's terrible. We watched 5 episodes and the last one made me vow never to watch it again. It's like they were surprised it got picked up for Season Two and ran out of ideas. See more Ste P @DocProc 1d Season 2 started off slowly and has not changed pace. The character development is poor and they all do their repetitive stuff week after week. As the season has progressed I’ve hoped for something to change, given the cast and it has now reached a time after 6 episodes of Season 2 where I stop watching. There really isn’t any likeable characters in the show, their behaviours don’t change. The overall feeling of "don’t care" applies to each of the characters. See more Read all reviews
