For all that emotions run high in the story, The Abandons takes a long time to warm up. Twists arrive, all of which you will see coming over the horizon in plenty of time to put the kettle on. Trevor W @TrevorWat 5h Picked this up because Cersei Lannister is a great actress; then saw Gillian Anderson as well, which kept me going! The acting is pretty darn good, but the writing is not. It is basically a David vs Goliath drama without any cool subplots or historical interests of note, and this series did not add anything new to that classic story arc. This does not hold a candle to other western series like Deadwood (goated). American Primeval is kind of like this show but also much better. See more Chris T 10h I'd heard it compared to Yellowstone so I thought I'd watch, and gave it 3 episodes. They share the alphabet for the title but that's about it!
