Some might argue that Dogma lacks the polish of other films in Smith’s filmography — again, criticisms of its more juvenile humor are common. I would counter that it only adds to the film’s humanity. The divine can withstand a little humor and simplicity.

Some laughs many others didn't land. The stoner humor is yesterday's news. But the real issue is the 4dx theatre it was released in. Absolutely unnecessary and hoakey to shake seats or do any thril ride effects for this release. It made a so so movie annoying at best.
