It's thoroughly eye opening but not particularly enjoyable to watch- more heartbreaking but sadly predictable. See more Troy R 5d It was interesting to have the genre of bodycam footage stories cross over into a movie format, though I don't think it was too special. Compared to some cases I have seen edited on youtube it was tough to hear some audio and the story wasn't super suspenseful like the movie wanted it to be. That being said I think it was unique to have the whole story told through the people involved and the ability to know everything that happened was real. Ending felt a little weird as they stated some statistics and then seemed to try to make the issue into a race thing, which it really didn't feel like it was. Even without having that the story is still important, but it kind of felt like the producers realized the story didn't have as much spice as they wanted. Also, hopefully the people in these videos will be paid in some way, but I wish the movie mentioned something like "Everyone involved was paid to attempt to heal the harm this incident caused." To tell a story like this solely through police body cam footage and audio--no additional interviews, no narration, no "dramatic re-creations"--and to have it be so gripping, compelling and emotional from beginning to end--should be impossible, but Perfect Neighbor stands as a testament that it's not. Definitely interesting to hear the police commentary caught on that footage! But ultimately it’s a heartbreaking story that had us all in tears for those kiddos and the neighbors who suffered at the hands of someone who should have never had access to a firearm. So, so, so sad. Can’t help but think about the children who will suffer for the rest of their lives because of this. See more Read all reviews
